My monkey on the road
Entry Feed TrackbackI didn’t attend Adobe MAX in Chicago this last week but my monkey did. He has appeared in more conferences that I have. Justin Everett-Church (Sr. product Manager, Flash Player, Adobe Systems, Inc.) used the monkey to demo some very cool new customizable filters for the next generation of Flash. Photo by Todd Sanders.
Here’s a peek at 2 such filters (Flash 9 required):

Cool deal… You were there in spirit….
I can’t wait to see what other filters there will be…

Wow this is really weird… Just was reading about Hydro and then found Astro over at labs.adobe.com and while reading what Astro does I found the picture of your monkey… wow that sounded weird. I was going to post something about this so people would know about it but found it already here first.
Congrats on the publicity Chris.

first of all its a lovely monkey. i would love to know what exactly those filters are. the first one looks like masking to me. i know adobe and i know those filters will only exist for MCs but PLEASE listen to me. animaiting with MCs isnt much fun. PLEASE make a filter support for GCs as well otherwise there is no real point.

nice, but if it only works in a swf export… then i don’t care. i work in TV so i want to be able to render in PNG sequences.. movie clips don’t play in a PNG export so they’re useless.

Some really GREAT things are in store for the next version of Flash - Richard Galvan (Flash Product manager) is serious about bringing Flash back to its roots:? Animation! I am currently in New Mexico where he presented in his keynote what they are working on for Flash CS4 - Inverse Kinematics, a new way of tweening with tons of better options and better animation control. Too much to type here but I met with Richard secretly at Flash Forward in Boston where he gave me a first hand look at these new features and I can honestly say I have never been so excited about Flash in my entire life! Hang in there a little while longer folks

i see a HUGE potential for the pixelated filter in flash based games for a cool “old school” effect =3
