Combining techniques

General Entry Feed Trackback

Just a new character I used in my Flash animation session at the Best in the SW conference in New Mexico last month. I used this example to show how to combine multiple techniques such as motion tweens, shape tweens, frame-by-frame animation and filters. I will probably use this same example in a future video tutorial series.

  1. He’s cute, excellent and is sure to get up to some funny tricks. I’m glad I checked in to keyframer again - I had been thinking about using a friendly liittle monster for my site and was just about to contact an illustrator who had submitted some good work on iStockphoto. I then decided against it and I’m now focusing on rotating 2.5D Televisions that show clips from YouTube.

    That was lucky!

  5. I really like this character. Simple and complex at the same time. I say complex because by just looking at him I can see how he would be able to show a wide variety of emotions. Yes I to would like to know your thought process I think I may try to do one as well and I will send you a link if that is oK. Oh yeah this is my first time on your blog. I also brought your book How to Cheat in Flash CS3 found it very inspirational(I thumb through it at least once a day. It made me realize that I would much rather be illustrating and doing flash art than what I am doing currently. However my job does pay the bills. Also I saw that you have a book coming out in Feb 2008 through Adobe Press. Can we get a little heads up about what you will have in there. I really like your work and will continue to check out keyframer. I will make a great effort to comment as well.
Take Care and keep up the good work

  8. Warren: thanks, no short just yet - have some ideas but finding time is next to impossible for personal projects :(
rbecus: no date set yet - I just have to get caught up with client work and some various other things in order to make time to record some more videos first - i will let you know - hopefully soon as it seems many are eagerly awaiting :)

  10. No doubt a lovely character. And as I love your other video-tutorials on breeze, I can’t wait for the next one!

By the way - do you have a listing of your breeze presentations anywhere? I can’t find the presentation where you show us how you created your main-character, the boy :P
