Chris Georgenes (jor-JEE-ness), started life like most humans, covered in placenta and with minimal motor skills. It was not long before he learned how to use both hands and feet as a groove-oriented drummer in a variety of rock bands. Upon standing fully erect, Chris attended a fine art school and received his B.F.A. Years later someone invented the Internet and then another person invented Flash. Riding on the coat tails of these two individuals, Chris was able to carve a unique niche for himself using both tools. His self-taught animation experiments were the stepping stones of what has become a regular source of income. More recently, Chris accepted the position of Art & Animation Director for Acclaim Games and is busy helping them create really cool stuff. Read more about Chris here...

fps is a bit high, but it looks good.
how many frames are there?

You make it look so easy. :/ I do wonder how you come up with the design of these things… particularly this one. LOL P.S. - Do you have a MOZY affiliate link handy? (I come here first for links)
TM at Nov 13, 08 at 7:21 pm
How many instances in there?!
I`m assuming you have the arms in a motion tween, but everything else is drawn instance by instance, right?
You must have somewhere from 8-10 instances.
Overall, a great cycle.
Cheers,

Looks good. Seems like his nose should flop a bit. How is that Cintiq. So jealous….

He looks stiff, and there’s an apparent jerk on the looping frame. He’s also walking at a canter that isn’t proportional to his anatomy.
If this is a frame by frame study, then why did you tween the arms?

Have fun.

Uh, James? I think he said “A quick little frame-by-frame”, not a “study”. Have you seen any of his portfolio by any chance? Your link takes us to an animation of a figure STOMP walking. However, I did check out your site. You have a lot going on there, and I do not doubt you also are an accomplished animator!

Just offering a genuine critique. Thanks for the kind words, TM.
James at Nov 14, 08 at 9:22 pm
Guilty as charged for tweening the arms - I got lazy - it was around 3am when i needed a break from writing and wanted to just do something with the Cintiq that was more or less mindless fun. He could be so much better but I was tired. The animation is about 12 frames at 24fps so it is fast. I inserted frames so that he’s animated on two’s and it looks better. I may see how many different walkcycles i can do with this guy to add more life to him - then throw the source files on the CD for the book.
Thanks for responses folks - maybe I’ll start a walkcycle volley in the forum

I just updated the animation - the 2nd character is a duplicate instance with frames inserted to adjust the timing.
chris at Nov 15, 08 at 12:02 am
see? of course. was I too much of a baracuda? (sorry about that James) I was only defending your honor Chris.
LOL

I plan to do a lot more of these short looping FBF studies - I was never trained as an animator so these are important for me to become better at animation in general. More to come - all comments welcome - bad ones especially
chris at Nov 17, 08 at 2:54 pm
wow. nice.
TM at Nov 20, 08 at 4:35 pm
AND… I am glad you plan to do more. Is it wrong to be hopeful for a new Christmas animation/presentation this year with your new digs?? (Flash CS4 - newer to us of course) People love when I send them your stuff during the holidays. I adore the cartoons!! no pressure, as usual.

Тема ну просто пиздец.
Неужели ничего поактуальней не нашлось?

You did a nice job on the legs. How long did it take you?
I’m partial to your “2D and a half” style of animation.
FBF animation is excellent but personally, I’m too impatient to do it myself… unless it’s for quick effects-animation.

…one constructive criticism… his body needs to come back down with his right-leg steps. He walks like a peg-legged pirate. LOL
